Getting Cold Here...

They are talking flurries tonight, but nothing will stick... My kids are excited, my hubby is grumbling.. When I lived in NY state (WAY Upstate....) There was always snow before Halloween. Here, it's mostly ice and slush... YUCK! Give me a decent snowfall and I'm out there building snow forts and sledding... I only come in when the kids make me....

A Bit of a Rant...

Another recall today.... The sickest part about all these recalls is that we (the US) haven't put ANY sanctions on China yet.. Why is that? Is it because the corporations are more worried about their bottom line than the lives of our children? I just don't understand it!
We will fight over fossil fuels, but not for the health of future generations...
It makes me very sad......

Why I Love to Barter...

I have a niece that LOVES horses.... I thought of making her some horse jewelry, but a friend of mine does such an awesome job in sculpting, painting and doing all sorts of thing horse, that I asked if I could purchase something from her...
Now, here's the best part... she wanted to barter!!!
WOO HOO!!! I love to barter.... It always makes me happy to create something for someone I know they will love and I always cherish what I get in return...
I am in the process of making her some Christmas-y earrings, but am stuck on do I make a tree, a present, a candy cane, a snowman, a snowflake or a wreath... Then, I have to decide if I want to make it 2D or 3D... I am thinking of a wreath only because I have a great pattern for it... However, it is up to Carole...
Speaking of Carole, she has an eBay site for your shopping pleasure...
Thanks so much Carole! She is SOOOOO going to love it!

One Dedicated Blogger Here....

After my debacle last night and not posting, I almost didn't do it again tonight! Imagine that.... However, to show my devotion, I am laying in the lower bunk of my daughter's bunk bed typing this out on my laptop..... (I'm here to scare all the bad dreams away as she falls asleep...)
So, I know I won't be able to work on my fiction, although I will try... So, here's a picture to keep you happy... LOL

What the heck is it? It's an alien pretzel we found one day and just had to take a picture...
So, tomorrow, if you are having a bad Monday, take a peek at this guy and be happy you didn't have his life!

Can You Believe It?

I plan on blaming my faux pas on my kids... They are all sick and at the end of the day, the last thing I wanted to do was get on the computer... So, I missed day three of my blog... Man, oh Man!!!!
I hope you forgive this indiscretion.... I will post more later.....

Day Two...

Today I am a bit earlier, but nonetheless pushing the envelope in getting my blog entry up.
This year, I made the Pledge - a decision to buy handmade.... With all the recalls and such, doesn't it make sense to either make something yourself or buy from someone who puts a bit of their heart and soul into something for you to enjoy?
It is not news that I am a HUGE proponent for Etsy and think the time has come to go back to handmade and skip out on most of the commercial junk that is out and about. I have kids, so I know that I won't be able to get away with this completely, but I am hoping by having them make their presents they will understand the need for handmade.....
Okay, off my soap box and back into my Fiction....

There are women that have it all together, look great right after having a baby, keep an immaculate house, have well-behaved kids, and volunteer for everything. That's Casey. The worst thing about her is that she's also a truly nice person. So, you can't even hate her!
This is why my life is a shambles. I want to be like her. I know I have no hope in hell to be even close, but I can dream. It's why I always say yes to all her requests. At least I'm not alone in this. Half the town scrambles around trying to be like her and failing miserably.
After Jim left the kitchen, I snapped up the cordless phone and did what any woman would do in my position. Call and complain to my best friend, Liz.
Liz and I met at the Library eight years previous, toting our infants to a Mommy and Me class, desperate to get out of the house and let someone else think of activities for a half hour. I saw her, her frizzy brown hair pulled back in a ponytail and shuffling in with her chubby baby boy in an infant carrier and a diaper bag bursting at the seams. She plopped down next to me and my precious little girl, clad all in pink. I felt superior for a moment until my daughter spewed milk all over her nice outfit and, of course, me.
"Oh Crap!" I muttered. My illusions shattered.
Liz laughed and pulled out a cloth diaper and started blotting the spit up from my pants. From that moment on, we've been inseparable. If the phone rings in my house 99% of the time it's Liz. The same goes in her house. We go everywhere together and our kids love each other. Our husbands hide in the basement on Sundays and drink beer and watch ESPN. I think they really just want to get away from us hens.
On the second ring, Liz answered. "What did Casey get you to do now?"
"I hate it when you do that." Really, how did she know?
"You don't call until after the Morning News unless Casey called and enlisted your help again."
"Okay, smart butt, what do I have to do?"
"Let's see... It's mid-October and she needs help. Must be the wrapping paper fund raiser."
"How did you know?"
Liz laughed and kept me hanging.
"Spill, woman... and stop laughing!" I commanded.
"I saw a note about the orders were coming in next week in Jake's school folder yesterday."
Jake was Liz's eight year old boy, and he was betrothed to my Olivia, who was also eight.
When I didn't answer right away, Liz continued. "I take it you didn't see the paper."
"I have yet to wade through all that stuff. With three kids, I swear I must get 50 pages of junk to look through." Liz only had the two boys, Jake and Jason and the youngest was just three.
Me, I was a regular baby factory. Three kids in three years and I was truly hoping I wouldn't ever get pregnant again. My body was already unrecognizable.
"So, you want me to help out?"
"Of course." I knew I never had to ask, she'd do it, just as I'd do it for her, but it made me feel better.
We spent the next half hour complaining how things never get done, both avoiding the obvious that if we got off the phone we'd get more done.
By eleven in the morning, I had cleaned up the dishes, put away the laundry, swept up the floor, and consumed three cups of tea. I was ready for the rest of the day - or so I thought.
In the bedroom, I sat down on the bed and it felt nice and comfy. I laid down and the next thing I knew it was one o'clock.
"Oh, crap," I yelled and ran into the bathroom to shower. In a half hour I was supposed to be at Casey's house to pick up the order forms to go over. Within fifteen minutes, I'd showered and dried my hair. I slapped on a layer of mascara and fluffed my hair. It was passable, but not even in the same solar system as Casey was. Looking at my clothes, I grabbed a t-shirt and jeans. I sucked in deep and buttoned the top button, and adjusted my shirt so that bulge wouldn't show.
One day I hoped to be half as together as Casey I mused as I raced down the suburban streets to her development. I slowed down since I always got lost in there. All the street names were dumb like Honeybee Court and Thistle Way. The houses all looked the same and I had to watch the house numbers on the mailboxes to make sure I found number 1403.
Casey's Lexus eggshell SUV gleamed in the pristine driveway. It was the perfect accessory to the brick faced colonial with hunter green shutters and a beige front door. The brick walk was abloom with fall mums and other shrubs and plants. There wasn't a weed in sight.
Once again, I compared my weed infested front yard to hers. I hated feeling like a did. My jeans were too tight and I looked like a harried mom. My life sucked.
I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
"Come in," I heard Casey yell.
Through the clean beige door I went, taking in the gleam of the hardwood and the formal living room to the right. Not a knick knack out of place, no dust bunnies in the corner, no toys lingering on the stairs.
"In here," Casey's voice called from the kitchen.
From down the hall I saw the counter, all shiny and uncluttered. As I got closer, I sensed something not right. A cabinet door stood ajar. Silly thing really, but I had to make myself feel better somehow.
I came into the kitchen and saw a different scene than I could have imagined. Casey sat at the table, immaculately groomed and sipping a cup of coffee. It all looked normal if you discounted her husband on the floor in a pool of blood with a kitchen knife sticking out of his stomach.

A Month of Blogs...

I really can't believe I almost messed up and it's the FIRST day! Sheesh!!! I was sitting, beading and watching ER and remembered that I signed up to write an entry a day in my blog for the Month of November. So, here I am, under the wire, typing out something quick so I don't blow it!
It's brought to you by the same people that do the Writing a Novel in a Month....
I would put some pretty pix up, but hubby broke the camera so I will be photoless for a while... EEK!!!

So, I decided I'd do both challenges at the same time... I'll write a bit of a story each day to keep you entertained.... I'd do a dance, but it wouldn't be pretty.....

So Here's the Story..... THIS IS TOTAL FICTION!!!

How could I have been so stupid? Let the machine get it. That's what my inner voice said, but do I ever listen? NO! So, once again I over obligated myself and Jim, my husband, would give me hell for doing this again. When would I ever learn?
While Nina was at ballet and Joey at soccer, I'd whip out my handy dandy cell phone and call a bunch of other mothers in hopes that they'd help me out. Nobody has the time. I knew this, but I'd make the calls, badger and cajole them into submission. I was good at it. In my former life, I was a Project Manager, handling multi-million dollar projects and dealt with all kinds of people. I knew how to handle them. What I couldn't do was keep the house tidy, find enough clean socks, or make a nutritious meal every night. I was not June Cleaver. When I was single, and even newly married, I didn't even like kids. Now, I sat in my kitchen, up to my elbows in dirty dishes and crumbs, mentally whacking myself in the the head for saying 'yes' yet again. I know I'm not Super Mom or even Competent Mom. I wanted to do it all, but I just couldn't.
Jim, stumbled into the kitchen, grunted a Good Morning and grabbed a cup of coffee. After 10 years of marriage, I still lusted after my husband. What was there not to love? Sandy brown hair, deep green eyes and a lean body with just enough muscle to make any girl swoon. His only downfall? The ability to be rational at all times. It got downright annoying.
"Don't say it," I said, heading him off at the pass.
"What?"
"Yes, I did it again. It's why I'm sitting here looking like hell, while you look all sleepy and sexy. It's why the dishes aren't done, the house is a mess, and our kids went to school in two day old underwear."
He smiled that lopsided smirk, that showed a hint of a dimple. Crossed the kitchen to the table and kissed me on top of the head. He squeezed my shoulder and sat down next to me.
"Why do you do it?" He asked, but he knew the answer.
"The same reason I always do it."
"Casey?"
"Yep. Casey. Damn her!"

OK, that's it for tonight. I have sick kiddies to attend to... I hope you enjoy this diversion!

Pick Me!!!!

I belong to an AWESOME group of talented bead weavers that sell on Etsy. Each month, we do a challenge and this month it was "A Study in Monochrome". If you click on the picture, it will take you to the blog where you can vote on any of these beauties.... I'm #6, but don't feel obligated to vote for me... (I'll just pout in a corner, that's okay.... LOL) There are some truly stunning pieces!

If you click on the picture, it will take to the blog where you can see all the lovelies up close and personal!

Just wanted to remind you that I am also having a sale in my shop until the 27th. Snap up all these wonderful Halloween goodies before it's too late!

Fritos and Fluff

For those with culinary sensitivity, please read no further... Just look at the pretty pictures.....
Maybe it's because I'd been reading Janet Evanovich's book Mean Thirteen, or it's my eternal immaturity... I love fluffernutters! For those not in the know, it's a Peanut B utter and marshmallow Fluff sandwich. Now, I have been known to put potato chips or tortilla chips inside a PB&J, but hadn't thought of doing that with my fluffernutter. So, the Fritos were a side dish...
Then, some of the Fluff oozed out... So, what could I do? I had a Frito in my hand and scooped it up with it. It is REALLY good! Now, I don't promote this in large quantities, but a few here and there are just yummy! Yep, just a big kid.... that's what I am!
I entered Margie Deeb's color challenge and here is the result:
I don't know when I'll hear anything, but it was fun doing this!

I Was Tagged....

A few weeks back, actually... I am a BAAAAAAD blogger! Valarie did it to me.... I forgive her since I love her drawings!
So Seven Random Things....
1. I love fluffernutter sandwiches (you know... peanut butter and fluff). Yep, just a big kid here!

2. I absolutely despise beets! Had to eat them as a kid and was so happy to find out my hubby hates them too!

3. I have the knees of an 80 yr old.... Here's what I wear most days....

The hamster's name is Sandy....

4. I have large feet - size 11!... As my Mom says - 'We won't blow over in a stiff wind...' Of course that was before the movie The Mighty Wind came out....

5. I was a jock in high school. (MANY moons ago...)

6. Reading is a favorite hobby of mine. I read at least a half hour each day - usually before I fall asleep.

7. I am allergic to scallops.

Phew! Done! Now, I have to decide who to Tag... hmmmmm... I'll let you know when I do it...
Yep, I'm a brat too, but I think you already knew that.... LOL

I've Been Blogging in my Head Again....

I know that fellow bloggers understand... So much has happened in the past two weeks since I posted....

First, hubby is knee deep in his pole building project and the girls are enthralled by all the machinery and big trucks. They love looking to see the progress when they get off the bus.

I've been a maniac at my Etsy shop and adding things (almost) daily. I've also been keeping up with forums and other such craziness. You can now see my newest pix on Flickr and items in my shop by looking at my little badges here.
A couple of things I will be listing this week.

The past two days I've been working on setting up EGADS! The Etsy Guild for Art Dolls and Such in order to promote this great medium! I am ALL about Etsy now. I've decided to sell solely through my Etsy shop and now all items in my shop have FREE Domestic Shipping...
So please take a peek. Thanks!
Also, I will be putting a mailing list opt-in here soon so you can get quicker updates!

Whatcha Think?

Can you see I've been fiddling? What do you think of the new layout? I added a Flickr badge so you can see the latest pix I've uploaded and an Etsy mini so you can see what's in my shop. How cool is that?
I also added a few things to my Etsy shop yesterday and had gobs of fun with Bloglines. If you aren't familiar with it, then let me tell you ALL about it! I love to read blogs, but I rarely do because I forget, or hate having to click on each bookmark. (So last year!) A guy on one of my flickr groups mentioned this site and I'm in heaven! One stop shopping for all your blogs! Add each blog and then you have a list and one click will bring up the blog without having to go anywhere!
Now, I command you to spend MANY hours on the internet surfing these sites!

2 More Weeks!

Yep, as any red-blooded Stay at Home mom is doing at the moment - counting the days!! OK - the normal disclaimer... I love my kids! Today, my 7 year old reached the I'm bored with everything stage, and I hit, I'm too tired to think of new ways to make the day go by....
But, in 14 days, the kids will be whisked away in the Magic Yellow Bus...
So, in the meantime, I'm trying to get organized... (No laughing!!) I truly need to get my butt in gear and do something consistent with my beads and critters with this blog, my shop and even (gasp) my website! I am hoping to have that done this week.

I did make one command decision and decided to list in my Etsy shop or my Flickr site for the moment. Of course, I haven't listed anything new lately, but I did make a decision....
We got some new neighbors last week and the deer that have been hanging out in their yard are hiding for now. However, I did a few snapshots before they decided to stay in the trees.
So far, I've seen two young bucks, one big buck, three doe and two fawns. They ride in a herd, except for one doe. She keeps to herself, and I've invented a whole torrid story of why she was ousted from the group. Yep, I need to get a life!

OK - Stop your begging!!!! Here is a picture of a bracelet I made with Miss Faith's bead she sent to me when my knee first started to bother me. So, it's my Knee bead (even looks like one!) I had to make matching earrings too...
Enjoy!

The Wait is Almost Over!

Many of you know I am a Harry Potter fan... A HUGE fan... I wasn't always, but then one day, I picked up the first book, then by the end of the summer I'd read all 5 that were out and had to wait a YEAR for book 6! Now, Book 7 is almost here... I've read all the other books several times over (something I rarely do...) and can't wait to see what happens. I must admit, I did take a peek at one of the spoilers that rushed around the Internet, but I won't say anything here. I'll just wait like the rest of us to see what happens to Harry and crew.
But, while I'm waiting, I did put a bunch of earrings on my Etsy site and spent most of yesterday surfing Flickr... What a cool site! I can see I'll be spending MANY hours there once I've finished off the Deathly Hallows... I posted many beads for sale there as well. For those interested, feel free to peruse the goodies. After 6 weeks, our digi camera came back all happy and fixed, so I've been snapping pix left and right... Hence the rush of pictures... Here's my worm dude... Still working on a good name for him...

$2 Bras and Hibernation

Now, this may surprise some of you - but I'm not a world wide traveller... No exotic lands to explore, no jet setting to Paris for dinner.... So, when I went to my local Wally World to get some hamster bedding (see how exotic I am!) my head was turned by the clearance racks outside the entrance. Being a thrifty gal - I got giddy... Sad, yes, I know....
But, imagine my surprise to find bras going for $2!! And they had them in my size!!! Woo Hoo!!! I snapped up a bunch and went on my way. Alas, I got home, tried them on, and found I was no longer that size... (The only part of me shrinking I guess.... LOL) So, I returned them, but there were no more $2 bras...sigh...
As you can see from my last post, I've been REALLY bad about posting here. I've become a bit of a hermit it seems. For about 18 months, I've been battling knee pain. It has gotten to the point now that I am going to get a partial knee replacement. At 41, I am quite young for this, but with kids 6, 6, and 7 - I need to be able to get around - fast too!
Also, our digital camera broke. If you don't have an extended warranty on yours, get one! It did take 4 weeks to get it repaired, but it only cost us shipping to the service center. I was SO happy when the UPS truck pulled up yesterday!
Now that I know the date of my surgery, I've got a lot to do before then, so I hope to post more often and now I can even post pix I've done since the camera broke!
Off to play with some beads and clay!

My New Favorite Earrings!

Most of you know how much I love Faith's beads....

Don't you just LOVE the swirls in those beads? The Cobalt AB swarkies go wonderful with them!

I planned on selling them, but the more I looked at them, the more I loved them! So, they are ALL mine!!! (Yep, I'm wearing them now too!)

In addition to making these yummies, I added some items to my Etsy site and put up a bead set on eBay....

Here are some pix so you can see some of the goodies.

Hope you are having a wonderful Spring and your pollen count isn't making you miserable!

I've been a B-A-A-A-D blogger!!!

Time has slipped from me like water through my hands. I've been busy, but don't know what I've really accomplished... Yes, I've made more beads, sculpted a few more things, but haven't made a necklace, bracelet or even a pair of earrings in a bit...
I've become addicted to Neopets and am trying to wean myself from it and participate in the real world a bit more...

At the moment, I have some polar bear beads up on eBay and made five more today... I'm a bit polar crazy at the moment. Maybe that's why we got snow yesterday and today.... I woke up thinking I was back living in NY state...

I'm hoping Spring will come and stick around soon. I see the grass turning green, but still have to put on my winter coat... Yuk!!! However, I hear those robins singing, so I know I have to be a little more patient....

Happy New Year!

I am a bit late with my salutations, but the thought has been there for over a week! =8->
I had all sorts of pictures to show you, but if you want to take a peek, go to my picture trail site and see the goodies I made for people this holiday season. For now, I wanted to show off this super cool cloud picture that I took on Christmas Eve. Anyone have an idea of what type of cloud this would be?

Also, I wanted introduce my Schnozzle family to you all. I would love to hear what you think of these pendants. Too weird? Super Cool? Just too blasted funky?

I'd love to hear from you all!

My Bead Slave... LOL

I don't have much to report, but one of my favorite lampwork artists has been on my mind... Faith Davis Ferris. She is dedicated to fill all my bead needs... However, as of late, people have been snatching up her beads left and right and I'm awful mad about that! But, then again, I am so happy that she's getting more and more recognition... Aah, the insight to my tortured soul...
(Yep, getting a bit stir crazy not being able to out and about for the past week...)
However, if you don't believe me, take a peek at her stuff!
Her website is here.... Her current eBay auctions are here... Her blog is here...
So, if you drop her a line, tell I said to make more Boro! LOL!!!
Enjoy!

Updating While Laid Up...

On Friday, I had some minor knee surgery, so I'm sitting here on the couch, watching my hubby run around, take care of the kids and the house, while I get to update my sites. Pretty good deal eh?
At this point, I put some stuff on Etsy - a few cute bead sets that I was surprised didn't get snapped up on eBay. Of course, I'm a bit biased, but I really liked these trios and have no idea why they didn't get the hits or the bids...

Cute - right?

I also updated my picturetrail site with some newer sculpts as well as some beads that I hadn't posted there yet. Even added a picture of a new eyeball pin/pendant!
We are so not ready for the holidays, and I'm hoping to use the next couple of days to bead up a storm. I am working on my website and plan on offering some beads there as well as the usual suspects, but that may take a bit.

As I logged in today, I updated to the new version of Blogger. Of course, in doing that, I had to change email addys since I messed it all up... So, if you get a notification from mafairies instead of Sooz - it's still me.. I blame it on the pain meds!

These Puppies had 18 bids!

eBay is such a brutal place. Imagine my surprise when these babies ended up with 18 bids and sold at over twice my buy it now price! I don't want you to think I'm bragging, but I am gobsmacked! I've never had more than a few bids on any one item and this ended up in a bidding war!

It made the day have a nice ending to what was a tortuous day. An afghan hound ambled down our street, obviously lost and clueless about the cars that speed down our road. I called her from the road and had to make the decision to take her to the Humane Society. Hubby thought with two dogs already and three small children in one small house, it would be too much to keep her overnight. All the way up there, I tried to think of reasons why she had to stay at our house... She's such a sweet docile dog and I just knew she would fit in perfectly in our home....
Great news is, I called them this morning and her owner already picked her up! I guess I'll just have to lobby for that hamster one of my daughters wants... LOL

Have a great Turkey Day!

Happy Halloween!

BLAH, BLAH!!! Have a SPOOK-tacular night! My girls are going to be cats and cheerleaders, which is s switch from the usual princess outfits.... Me, I bought some glitter lashes today and have some blue hair spray....
They don't want me to dress up, but hey - I'm the Mom and I wanna!

The 22nd was my birthday and I got THE greatest gift from Tera! They have a black base and have purple, blue, green and orange dots and they are FABO!!! They look sort of like this...
She has a birthday bead list and it is such a great idea, I plan on doing that on my website too!

Here is a picture of the hawk that visited me this summer. The picture is a bit blurry, but that was all he would hang around for....

Not Yet Friday the 13th...

I realize I am quite bad at posting to my blog. So, I figured I'd get ahead of the curve and wish you all a Happy Friday the 13th!

The show I'd planned to tomorrow, fell through, since it's being all Friday the 13th on me. I have been beading some and am really happy with a few pieces. I will hopefully get some decent pictures to post here soon.

The best news... I finally got a picture of that Hawk!! Yes, I am easily amused... I heard him the other day, and hoped he would go to the branch he hangs out on. I turn and look, and there he is! He patiently waited until I got my camera and took a few pictures of him before flying off! They aren't the best pictures, but at least it's better than the specs in the sky I was getting. I have to upload them on the computer...

In the meantime - here's a picture of my glow in the dark ghost earrings.... Click HERE to see how they glow in the dark....

For those in the Maryland Area - I am kicking off my daytime beading and clay classes at the Artway in Damascus.

As some of you know, I belong to Etsy's Crest Team. We will be having an event on October 13th! I love the fact that is Friday the 13th, and I'll have plenty of spooky things there to stay in the mood.
Here are the location details:

Time: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

I hope you all are enjoying the fall weather. At the moment, the windows are open and I'm off to do some weeding!

Aaaah.... Sweet Silence!

Yesterday, all three of my girls got on the school bus and I felt the first burst of freedom. I went to Target, shopped, then went to the doctor - got a shot - YUK! Went home, did the grocery shopping, took a nap and still had over an hour before they got off the bus...

Today, I'm catching up on my listings and restringing some necklaces... Here are a couple of pix of what I've got on eBay at the moment...
